At the recent AWS Lounge Hungary event hosted by Devertix, György Rubóczky (Cloud Solutions and Platform Services Leader at MBH Bank) and Márk Uszov (CEO of Devertix) shared insights into how the bank managed its cloud migration journey.

1. The complexity unfolds in the details:
   • The scope of the task becomes apparent once the specifics are addressed.
2. A detailed roadmap is essential:
   • Developing a comprehensive, actionable roadmap is critical for guiding the process.
3. Compliance challenges:
   • Legal and regulatory compliance requires meticulous attention to detail—this is where "the devil is in the details."
4. Organizational education is key:
   • Teams need to understand the necessity of adopting modern platforms and renewing processes.
5. Building a new logic:
   • A system based on a different operational principle had to be established, without overhauling the bank's entire rulebook.
6. Strategic disclaimers:
   • Instead of rewriting all regulations, attaching disclaimers and appendices made it easier for the organization to adapt.
7. Preliminary cost estimation is critical:
   • AWS offers tools like the Architecture Framework for cost assessments.
8. Audits are beneficial:
   • Regular audits were a helpful and necessary part of the process.
9. Migration is more than technology:
   • Cloud migration is approximately 30% technical and 70% political and regulatory.
